Golf Swing Mechanics – Balance

Every golfing guru has their own unique technique on how to play the game. They will, however, all agree that correct balance is vitally important. If you cannot keep your balance throughout a full swing, you will not have a good stroke. If your body is tensed and you’re squeezing the life out of your club trying to get a good hard shot, it’s nearly impossible.

Here’s a few simple tips to help out:

If your a beginner, avoid trying to hit the ball hard and instead focus on hitting with the center of the club. It’s a common error that many golfers still make. Your distance will not increase unless your aim in centered.

Though I did find this very difficult to do myself, you need to try and keep your head perfectly still during your swing. Any movement might disrupt your balance and ruin your shot. If you can manage to relax the muscles in your body, your head muscles should do the same and not move.

Practice your swings at home in front of a full length mirror. Be wary of any area of your body that seems tensed. Its imperative that you can fix your stance before you make your next swing on the course.

To really have a good game of golf, a keen sense of balance is extremely useful. Be patient as your body conforms to your changing technique and soon you will see an improvement in your swing. Use slower centered swings and follow through until your body finds it’s center of gravity before attempting adding any more power to your shots.
