Golf Lessons – How to Perfect Your Golf Swing

Every golfer wants to be the next Tiger Woods or Annika Sorenstam. Unfortunately, few people have the god-given ability to develop into such a talented golfer. However, this does not mean you have to settle for the same weak golf swing you have had your entire life. With golf lessons and a great deal of practice, you can perfect your swing.

There are several minute details that can change the way you swing the club forever. The first thing you will learn about is the grip, which is perhaps the most important element in your game. It is vital you have a firm grip with your hands properly positioned. With a poor grip you simply set yourself up for poor alignment, weak contact and a lack of distance. Take what you learn in your lessons and apply it to your practice.

The next detail you will learn in your golf lessons is the stance and posture. Obviously, you need to start with the correct posture in order to allow you to make solid contact. Balance your weight evenly from front to back and left to right. In addition, keep your arms from hanging out and make sure they hang down.

How you stand can set up what your swing is going to end up as. You want to flex your knees and bend from the hips so that your spine is at a 45 degree angle from the ground. Maintain this throughout the golf swing in order to hit the ball with power and accuracy.

From there, you will learn the importance of alignment with your swing. You can set yourself up rather easily by aiming at the hole and laying your club down next to your heels. You want the club to be properly placed on the ground parallel to your target. This will ensure that you are aligned perfectly with the hole so you have something to aim at.

As you begin to swing the club, avoid picking the club up too quickly. Instead, you want to bring it up in a circular sweeping motion that will give you power and control. When the club gets to the top of the swing, make sure tat 75% of your weight is on the back foot and 25% is on the front foot. Finally, follow through with the same speed and control you did with the backswing.

Remember, it takes time to perfect things in life. You cannot expect to take golf lessons for a week and have a golf swing like Tiger Woods. Take what you learn in the lessons and practice them as much as possible. Only then will you develop the perfect swing for your game.
